NEW ROUND OF MULTICULTURAL FUNDING AVAILABLE
Multicultural community and social groups in the Richmond electorate can share in $4.6 million in Brumby Labor Government grants to strengthen, support and celebrate our rich cultural diversity, Member for Richmond Richard Wynne said today.

NOMINATIONS CLOSING FOR OUTSTANDING WOMEN
Victorians have until 30 October to nominate inspirational women in their local communities for the 10th anniversary 2010 Victorian Honour Roll of Women, Minister for Women’s Affairs Maxine Morand said today.
Ms Morand said Victorian women could be nominated for their contributions in a diverse range of fields from education, social justice and science, to medicine, human rights, media, literature and arts, sport and recreation, as well as involvement in ethnic and indigenous communities. Read more
PROTECTING VICTORIA’S ICONIC RIVER RED GUM FORESTS
Victoria’s iconic river red gum forests will be protected under an unprecedented national parks Bill introduced into Parliament this week by the Brumby Labor Government.
Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings said over 150,000 hectares along the Murray, Goulburn and Ovens Rivers will be protected in four new national parks and other parks under the Parks and Crown Land Legislation (Amendment) River Red Gum Bill 2009. Read more
HOUSING ACQUISITION AND MAINTENANCE TARGETS EXCEEDED
The Brumby Labor Government acquired 1407 new homes for social housing tenants in Victoria in 2008/09, exceeding the target for the year by almost 400.
Housing Minister and State Member for Richmond Richard Wynne said figures published today in the Department of Human Services Annual Report showed that maintenance on public housing properties also exceeded targets, with 3277 homes undergoing major upgrades. Read more
