BRUMBY GOVERNMENT TO LAUNCH NEW ATTACK ON HOMELESSNESS

Housing Minister and State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, today signalled the start of sector-wide consultation to deliver a new strategy to tackle homelessness in.

Mr Wynne said with the Rudd Government naming homelessness as a national priority, it was an ideal time to deliver an ambitious strategy to break the back of homelessness, its causes and the issues that cause people to be trapped in a cycle many can find hard to break out of. Read more

WORK UNDERWAY ON VICTORIAN SOCIAL HOUSING REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE


Federal Housing Minister Tanya Plibersek along with Minister for Housing and State Member for Richmond Richard Wynne today announced that work is underway to provide repairs and maintenance to thousands of social housing dwellings across Victoria as part of the Rudd Government’s Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.

The Australian and Victorian Governments have committed to deliver maintenance and repairs to 5,600 social housing dwellings across the state by July 2010 at a cost of $99.2 million. Read more

ST MARY’S HOUSE EVEN MORE WELCOMING AFTER $4.6 MILLION REFURBISHMENT

Premier John Brumby, along with State Member for Richmond Richard Wynne and Community Development Minister Peter Batchelor, today unveiled the new-look St Mary’s House of Welcome Day Centre following its $4.6 million refurbishment.

Mr Brumby said St Mary’s House of Welcome was an important place for many people in the Fitzroy community to access support services as they re-establish themselves. Read more

SOLAR HOTWATER INVESTMENT TO MAKE STIMULUS LAST


The Brumby Government has called on the community to consider spending their Commonwealth Stimulus payments on solar hotwater systems and other investments that cut costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne MP, said the stimulus payments, combined with Brumby Government rebates are a great opportunity for households to make a long-term difference to their energy and water bills. Read more
