NOMINATIONS CALLED FOR 2009 HEALTH VOLUNTEER AWARDS

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne MP, has called for nominations from local health service volunteers for the 2009 Minister for Health Volunteer Awards.

BRUMBY GOVERNMENT JOINS MEN IN BUILDING VICTORIAN COMMUNITIES

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, has encouraged men in the Richmond electorate to apply for funding as part of the Brumby Government’s $2 million Men’s Shed grant program.

SCHOOLS IN THE RICHMOND ELECTORATE SHARE IN $4M SCHOOL-BASED VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM
A program supporting young people to volunteer in their local communities will again be rolled out to over 400 schools this year with a $4 million boost, forming part of the Victorian Government’s Respect Strategy.
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne MP, said Collingwood College, Melbourne Girls College, Fitzroy High School, and Lynall Hall Community School would each receive up to $9,725 to help students in a range of volunteering and community projects as part of the Advance program. Read more
HEALTHY FUNDING BOOST FOR RICHMOND PRIMARY SCHOOL
Richmond Primary School will benefit from a Brumby Government boost through the ‘Go for you life’ Healthy Start in Schools Grants for 2009, State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne MP, said today.

Projects aimed at encouraging a greater take up of cycling as a viable transport option in the Richmond electorate are a key feature of the Brumby Governments new $115 million Victorian Cycling Strategy State Member for Richmond Richard Wynne MP said today.

DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE NOW FOR HOUSEHOLDS SAVING ENERGY

Improving the energy efficiency of homes is now more affordable for Victorians thanks to the Brumby Government’s new Energy Saver Incentive.
The Energy Saver Incentive Buyers Guide will help Victorian households identify how they can receive discounts on products to become more energy efficient.
Under the scheme discounts and special offers on energy-saving products and services are available from participating businesses.
Many of the actions are simple to undertake and can radically reduce home energy use, drastically cut a household’s carbon pollution and cut household energy bills. Read more
MORE SUSTAINABLE JOBS FOR DISADVANTAGED VICTORIANS

The State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, today announced funding of $498,000 to place 78 disadvantaged jobseekers into employment in the electorate of Richmond.
“The projects in Richmond will assist a diverse range of people to gain a job in a wide range of industries including recently arrived migrants and public housing tenants into consumer finance, accounting, business services, emergency services and hospitality industries and people with a disability and Vietnamese migrants into customer services and child care industries,” Mr Wynne said.
New Workforce Partnership projects in Richmond
- Brotherhood of St Laurence – Brotherhood New Workforce Partnerships Project – $158,400 to provide 25 jobs
- Russian Ethnic Representative Council of Victoria – REDI to Work Project – $129,600 to provide 18 jobs
- Paraquad – Independence for Living Project – $105,000 to provide 15 jobs.
- Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association (AVWA) $105,000 to provide 20 jobs.
TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT FOR BUSHFIRE RELIEF

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne MP announces that Infoxchange Australia, located in the Richmond District, has received $20,000 under the Bushfire Relief Volunteer Grants program.
Mr Wynne said the organisation had received the grant for its Technology relief for bushfire support project which aimed to encourage the community and businesses to donate computers to not-for-profit groups and individuals that have lost them through the bushfire. In addition, they will provide assistance to install them and as well as a 7 day a week email and phone Help Desk for a period of approximately three to four months. Read more
BOOST FOR MULTICULTURAL GROUPS IN RICHMOND ELECTORATE

Multicultural community groups in the Richmond electorate will benefit from a Brumby Government grant program to strengthen and celebrate cultural diversity.
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne MP today announced that 37 community groups in the Richmond electorate would receive funds from the Community Grants Program, totalling $66,650, to hold festivals and events and to support a number of senior citizen’s clubs. Read more
