LOCAL COMMUNITY HEALTH GROUPS GET FUNDING HELP

Community self-help health groups in the Richmond electorate will share in a $158,700 Brumby Government funding boost to help them with their important tasks, Richard Wynne, State Member for Richmond announced today.
Mr Wynne said more than 190 groups across Victoria would benefit from these grants. Many of the groups involve people with a chronic health condition or mental illness and their families, and the one-off grants are recognition of the key volunteer role they played in helping others. Read more
CITY OF YARRA LIBRARIES GET TECH SAVVY WITH $37,100 STATE GOVERNMENT GRANT

Visitors to City of Yarra libraries will soon benefit from the Victorian Government’s $37,100 grant to fund initiatives that support wireless internet and information security.
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, today announced funding for the City of Yarra Library Service as part of the Computer Management and Wireless Internet in Public Libraries Grants Program.
THE CHALLENGE TO GET VICTORIA MOVING

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, today urged families get healthier and more active together.
The Premier’s Active Families Challenge will kick off on March 8, 2009 and encourages all Victorian families to complete 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 30 days between March 8 and April 19.
‘I urge every Victorian to register and take part in the Premier’s Active Families Challenge,’ Mr Wynne said
FUNDING TO SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS IN RICHMOND ELECTORATE

The Lighthouse Foundation in City of Yarra will receive a Brumby Government funding boost to help attract and train new volunteers, State Member for Richmond Richard Wynne announced today.
Mr Wynne said the Lighthouse Foundation had received $3,850 in the latest round of Victorian Volunteer Small Grants. Read more
FREE FRUIT ON THE MENU FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, announced that Collingwood College, Collingwood English Language School, and Richmond Primary School have all received funding to participate in the ‘Go for your life’ Free Fruit Friday program in 2009. They are part of total of more than 1000 schools who are participating which includes more than 200 Victorian government schools who are joining the program for the first time this year. Read more
$3.7 MILLION MEANS MORE BEDS FOR PATIENTS AT ST VINCENT’S

Last Friday Richard Wynne MP, State Member for Richmond, visited St Vincent’s to announce a $3.7 million beds package to care for more than a thousand extra patients.
Meeting with Tricia O’Rourke, Acting CEO of St Vincent’s and other hospital staff, Mr Wynne announced that the hospital will receive a $3.7 million funding boost for an extra 18 hospital beds to treat more than 1000 extra local patients each year.
