NEW NATIONAL PARKS TO PROTECT RIVER RED GUM HERITAGE
Iconic areas of Victoria’s River Red Gum country will be protected for future generations following a Victorian Government decision to create four new national parks along the Murray, Goulburn and Ovens Rivers.
The Victorian Government will spend $38 million over four years to create the new protected areas and help local communities adjust. Read more
MASSIVE BOOST TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL YOUTH
Young people in the Richmond district are set to benefit as 4 local youth services share in a $12.3 million funding boost under the State Government’s Youth Participation and Access program.
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, today announced a total funding boost of $433,500 for 4 local youth service initiatives, which include:
· Refugee Youth Development Program – Ecumenical Migration Centre, BSL
· The Homecoming Project – Westside Circus
· The Creative Futures Project – Interact Australia (Victoria)
· Getting Connected to Yarra – Yarra City Council
MELBOURNE TARGETS 155 LITRES PER DAY
Melburnians are being asked to get behind a new water saving campaign to reduce the city’s average residential consumption to less than 155 litres per person per day.
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, said the Target 155 campaign was a balanced way to ensure Melbourne had enough water until major water projects begin coming online from mid-2009. Read more
