MAJOR INVESTMENT IN CLIFTON HILL PRIMARY SCHOOL


State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, today announced that Clifton Hill Primary School has been selected for inclusion in the Better Schools Today program.

Better Schools Today (BST) is a grants program offering up to $500,000 to schools to upgrade existing facilities. In the past schools have used this money to modernise classrooms, staff and administrative areas, as well as improve indoor and outdoor teaching spaces.

Once announced the schools will work with the regional and central offices of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to define budget, scope and plan the works.

ACADEMY OF MARY IMMACULATE RECEIVES VIC HERITAGE GRANTS

I am pleased to announce that $7,000 has been allocated to the Academy of Mary Immaculate, located in Fitzroy, as part of the Victorian Government’s Victoria’s Heritage: Strengthening our Communities grant program.

The program funds projects to repair, conserve, and interpret heritage places and objects of importance to the community. It also provides funding to preserve and provide access to important community collections.

LOCAL TAC COMMUNITY GRANTS BOOST ROAD SAFETY EFFORT

 

The Fitzroy Learning Network has been given more resources to keep local roads safer.

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, today announced that the Fitzroy Learning Network would be supported under Round 3 of the TAC’s new $4 million community road safety program. Seventeen projects will receive a total of $300,000 to make Victoria’s roads safer.

“Local communities are often best placed to find new opportunities to reduce road accidents in the local area,” Mr Wynne said. Read more

VICTORIAN LEADS THE WAY ON REDUCING PLASTIC BAGS

 

Victoria’s trial to reduce the use of plastic bags has lead the way to a national approach to tackling plastic bags.

Victoria’s trial in partnership with supermarkets and the Australian National Retailers Association (ANRA) of a 10 cent charge on plastics bags in three sites had achieved a 79 per cent reduction in plastic bag use. Read more

VICTORIAN SCHOOLS GET HIGH-SPEED BROADBAND BOOST

 

All Victorian Government schools will undergo a major broadband upgrade to increase their high-speed broadband capacity from four to 10 megabits-per-second, putting Victorian schools at the leading edge of the nation’s digital education revolution.

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, Premier John Brumby, Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo and Education Minister Bronwyn Pike announced the upgrade at Richmond Primary School during an interactive blogging lesson with students at Hawkesdale P-12 College more than 280 kilometres away.
