WORLD TEACHERS DAY

On behalf of myself and our local community I would like to offer my congratulations to our teachers as part of World Teachers’ Day celebrations, 2008.

Since 1994, World Teachers’ Day has drawn public attention to the important role teachers play in building a better future for our children.

It is a time for us all to reflect upon and show our appreciation for the valuable role teachers play in our local community and acknowledge the commitment and dedication to our students, along with the vital contribution they make to their education and development.

Education is the Victorian State Government’s number one priority. The 2008-09 State Budget delivered $815.6 million for our schools, kindergartens and childcare and together with teachers, we will continue to lift standards in Victorian classrooms.

Once again, I ask you to join me in congratulating our teachers for all their hard work as part of World Teachers’ Day.
