NEW OFFICE OF SOLAR ENERGY AND $30 MILLION BOOST TO DRIVE DEVELOPMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

A new Office of Solar Energy and a $30 million boost to support renewable energy technology will drive new investment and the development of cleaner energy in Victoria, Premier John Brumby announced today.
Visiting Solar System’s factory in Abbotsford with Energy and Resources Minister Peter Batchelor and Member for Richmond Richard Wynne, Mr Brumby said the $30 million funding boost would support the development of alternative energy technologies. Read more
VICTORIAN SOLAR POWER STATION STAYS IN LOCAL HANDS
Plans to build one of the world’s largest solar power plants in Victoria have resumed.
The Premier John Brumby and Energy Minister Peter Batchelor visited the Abbotsford manufacturing site to welcome news that Silex System’s had taken ownership of Solar Systems’ world-first solar power plant technologies and would continue developing the technology in Victoria. Read more
SPEED BOOST TO REVOLUTIONISE DIGITAL LEARNING

Students at almost 340 of Victoria’s largest Government schools are surfing the internet at lightning fast speeds, thanks to a major broadband internet upgrade announced today by Education Minister Bronwyn Pike.
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, visited North Fitzroy Primary School today with Ms Pike who said uploading podcasts and downloading multimedia will be a breeze for students at 79 of Victoria’s biggest Government schools when their broadband internet speed is increased from 10 to 50 megabits per second. MORE COMPUTERS FOR GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne said Victorian government schools will share in $7 million to purchase more computers for their students, with funding available before the start of the 2010 school year. Read more
