The opening of a $3.5 million building has signalled a new era of education at Fitzroy High School – a thriving Victorian school which reopened after being closed by Jeff Kennett’s Liberal Party in the 1990s.
Member for Richmond Richard Wynne today visited the iconic school to officially open the new building – which features science, art and technology studios, a student lounge, careers centre and private study spaces. Read more

SPEED BOOST TO REVOLUTIONISE DIGITAL LEARNING

Students at almost 340 of Victoria’s largest Government schools are surfing the internet at lightning fast speeds, thanks to a major broadband internet upgrade announced today by Education Minister Bronwyn Pike.
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, visited North Fitzroy Primary School today with Ms Pike who said uploading podcasts and downloading multimedia will be a breeze for students at 79 of Victoria’s biggest Government schools when their broadband internet speed is increased from 10 to 50 megabits per second. 100,000th BOOK FOR TWO YEAR-OLD VICTORIANS

The 100,000th free children’s book was presented today as part of the Brumby Labor Government’s $2.1 million Young Readers Program.
Children and Early Childhood Development Minister Maxine Morand and State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, presented the milestone book to two-year-old Audrey Phan and her mother, Huong Nguyen, at the Maternal Child Health Centre in Fitzroy. Read more

SCAMS IN THE COMMUNITY INFORMATION SESSION AND AFTERNOON TEA
Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, and Member for Northern Metropolitan Region, Jenny Mikakos, would like to invite local seniors to an afternoon tea with ourselves and the Minister for Consumer Affairs, the Hon. Tony Robinson, to learn how Victorian Seniors can protect themselves from scams in the community.
We are pleased to host this information session during which Minister Robinson will give you an update on the latest scams that are occurring right now in our community and what steps you can take to ensure that you are not caught by one of these scammers.

FREE INTERNET FOR VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS IN 2010

Victorian government schools will now enjoy free internet access from the first day of term one in 2010, Education Minister Bronwyn Pike announced today.
All Victorian government schools will have their internet charges covered by the Brumby Labor Government, saving schools projected costs of $9.5 million annually. Read more
