NEW TRAIL BRIDGE TO MAKE MELBOURNE EVEN MORE LIVEABLE

Cyclists and pedestrians will benefit from the construction of a new $4.1 million bridge over the Yarra River at Clarke Street in Abbotsford, Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings said today.
Joining Member for Richmond Richard Wynne to announce the completion funds of $2.8 million, Mr Jennings said people would no longer need to climb the steep steps at Gipps Street to cross via the existing bridge which connects to the Capital City Trail on Dickinson Reserve. Read more
BRUMBY GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR LOCAL CLUB COLOURS

Clifton Hill Cricket Club, Collingwood Harriers Athletic Club, Motorcycling Victoria, and Yarra Jets JFC sporting clubs can now purchase new uniforms and footwear thanks to the Brumby Government’s Our Club, Our Future Sporting Uniform Grants Program.

NOMINATE YOUR RICHMOND ELECTORATE SPORTS HEROES

Residents in the Richmond electorate have a chance to nominate their local sports heroes, sporting clubs and associations in the 2009 Victorian Sport and Recreation Awards.

MILLIONS MORE FOR COMMUNITY SOCCER FACILITIES
Local football (soccer) clubs can apply for up to $100,000 to upgrade existing or build new soccer facilities to meet the growing demand for soccer in our local area, the State Member for Richmond Richard Wynne said.
The money is available from the Brumby Government’s $5.7 million Strengthening the World Game program. Read more
CHANCE TO SCORE SPORTS UNIFORM FUNDING
Sports clubs across the Richmond electorate can now spruce up their club colours and inject a new team spirit thanks to the latest round of the Brumby Governments’ Our Club, Our Future Sporting Uniform Grants Program.
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne said the $1.65 million program gives clubs the opportunity to purchase team uniforms, which can cover anything from team tops and shorts, to socks and football boots. Read more
THE CHALLENGE TO GET VICTORIA MOVING

State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, today urged families get healthier and more active together.
The Premier’s Active Families Challenge will kick off on March 8, 2009 and encourages all Victorian families to complete 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 30 days between March 8 and April 19.
‘I urge every Victorian to register and take part in the Premier’s Active Families Challenge,’ Mr Wynne said
VICHEALTH ACTIVE CLUB FUNDING NOW OPEN
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, announced that grants of up to $2500 are available to local sporting clubs, regional sporting leagues and associations and local active recreation clubs across Victoria as part of the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth) Active Club Grants bid to get more people active.
GRANTS NOW OPEN TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY SPORT FACILITIES
Local government and community organisations in the Richmond electorate are encouraged to apply for funding to improve community swimming pools, leisure centres and sport and recreation facilities.
Applications for the 2009-2010 round of the Community Facility Funding Program (CFFP) were officially opened today. The grants are designed to help local government develop new or upgrade existing minor and major facilities across Victoria and improve access for the community.
FUNDING FOR MORE LOCAL WALKING & CYCLING TRAILS

Metropolitan councils are invited to apply to share in $1 million in funding for priority trails in their area through the Parks Victoria Metropolitan Trail Network Grants Program, Local Labor Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne said today.
The Parks Victoria Metropolitan Trail Network Grants Program provides funding to local government and other land managers to develop the Metropolitan Trail Network. This funding is then matched dollar for dollar by the successful applicants.
DROUGHT RELIEF FUNDING FOR FITZROY TENNIS CLUB

Local Labor Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne, has announced funding to drought proof sports facilities in the Richmond electorate as part of the second round of the Brumby Government’s Drought Relief for Community Sport and Recreation Program.
Mr Wynne said the $35,000 grant would go towards investing in water efficient assets for local sports facilities, which will make a difference now and into the future.
